This is Porch Light — an invented little song on a real SongCharter chart, wired live into this page. Tap a chord and slide it along the words. Swap it for another. Rewrite a lyric. Add a line. Then tune the whole song into any key and watch every chord move together, spelled right. You can’t break anything — reset brings it home.
Tap a chord to slide or swap it. Tap the words to rewrite them. The ♭ and ♯ move the key; the pills park a capo under your favorite shapes.
No song handy? This is the lookup version — one row per key, the chords that live there. To change the key of a song, find the row it’s in, note which columns its chords sit in, then read the same columns from the new key’s row. G–C–D–Em in the key of G becomes A–D–E–F♯m in the key of A.
| Key | ii | iii | IV | V | vi |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| C | Dm | Em | F | G | Am |

| E♭ | Fm | Gm | A♭ | B♭ | Cm |
| E | F♯m | G♯m | A | B | C♯m |
| F | Gm | Am | B♭ | C | Dm |
| F♯ | G♯m | A♯m | B | C♯ | D♯m |
| G | Am | Bm | C | D | Em |
| A♭ | B♭m | Cm | D♭ | E♭ | Fm |

Every chord change is a distance. Count the semitones from the old key to the new one — G up to A is two — and move every chord in the song the same distance: G becomes A, C becomes D, Em becomes F♯m. That’s the whole algorithm, plus one courtesy: spell the results to match the new key, sharps in sharp keys, flats in flat keys, so E♭ never shows up wearing a D♯ costume.
Or skip the counting: in the chart above, every song is just a pattern of columns, and changing the key of a song means reading the same pattern from a different row. That’s what the playground up top is doing when you tap ♯ — nothing more.
The reason this page can do it live is that the song here isn’t a picture. Every chord is a fact, anchored to a word. A screenshot can’t change key and a PDF can’t fix a wrong chord — but a chart made of facts moves in one tap.
The playground is our song. Your songs do this too — paste a link from a chord site, sing a hook and get the words back written down, photograph the band book, or drop in a PDF; every one becomes a chart like the one above, editable and tunable into any key you sing.
