Terms of use

SongCharter LLC · Effective 18 August 2026

The short version: SongCharter turns charts you already have into one clean book and helps you play it. What you put in is yours, and it has to be yours to use. Your library lives on your device, so back it up. And while we build this to be dependable on a stage, software is software — bring a paper copy to the gig that can't go wrong.

The deal

SongCharter is free to try. A single one-time purchase, made through Apple, unlocks it fully on the devices signed into your Apple Account. No subscription, and nothing else to buy. Using SongCharter means you accept these terms; if you don't accept them, don't use it.

Your content

Everything you import, photograph, type, or edit in SongCharter remains yours. We claim no rights to it, and — as the privacy policy explains — we couldn't look at it if we wanted to.

In return, it has to be content you're entitled to use. SongCharter is a tool for your own performance materials: charts you made, charts made for you, and personal copies of songs you perform. Don't use it to mass-reproduce or distribute someone else's work. You're responsible for what you put in, including having whatever performance rights your venue or use requires.

Your library is on your device

There are no accounts and no cloud copy. Your songs and sets exist in the app on your device and in any backup files you export. If you delete the app without a backup, your library is gone and we cannot recover it — there is nothing on our side to recover from. The Back up button exists for exactly this reason; use it.

Sharing

Sharing a set parks an encrypted copy on our server so the link fits in a message. Shared sets expire automatically after about 90 days, and a lost link cannot be recovered — by you or by us. Sharing is a courier, not storage: don't rely on a share link as a backup, and don't use the share service to distribute content that isn't yours to distribute.

The reader

Photo, screenshot, and PDF import use machine transcription — Apple's on-device text recognition and an AI model. It's good and it isn't perfect: an imported chart can contain mistakes, and a chord it misread is a chord you'll play wrong. Glance over what comes in before the downbeat. Transposition and capo math are calculated, not transcribed, and don't share this caveat.

Fair use of the service

The import and share services run on real infrastructure with real limits, shared by everyone. Don't hammer them with automated traffic, probe them, or use them for anything other than what the app does. We may rate-limit or block abusive traffic to keep the service working for people mid-gig-prep.

Purchases and refunds

The purchase is processed by Apple under Apple's terms, and refunds are requested from Apple — we have no ability to see your payment or issue refunds directly. The unlock restores on a new device through your Apple Account, using Restore purchase.

What we promise, and what we can't

We work to make SongCharter accurate and dependable, and this document doesn't change that effort. Legally, though: SongCharter is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, SongCharter LLC's total liability for any claim arising from the app or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for it. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Changes

These terms may change as the product does. The date above moves when they do, and a change that mattered would be announced in the app. Using SongCharter after a change means accepting the current terms.

The formalities

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and SongCharter LLC about the app.
